Samsung dominance in the smartphone market is worth
the study. It's actually interesting to see how the company cashed in on
the Android revolution at the right time to dethrone other major
players such as Nokia is the Indian domestic market.
Samsung has
enjoyed quite a success in the past with its Galaxy series of flagships
that have arrived in regular intervals to pose problems for others in
the market. Be it the previously released Samsung Galaxy Note, Note 2 or
the newly introduced Samsung Galaxy S5.
While
Samsung, all this time, has focused its attention on all the features
of a certain phone, it's been quite rare that the company has only
focused on a single aspect of a device and worked on that. We are
talking about the in-device camera, of course.
Mobile
manufacturers such as Sony have quite a reputation for bringing out
devices with a dedicated camera and has been a superior choice for most
fans looking for a great camera handset at an affordable price.
Now
it seems like Samsung is looking to target that popularity with devices
such as the Samsung Galaxy K zoom and the Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom.
While
both these devices have dedicated features of their own, how do they
stack up when compared against each other? Let's take a closer look at a
comparison between the Samsung Galaxy K zoom and the Samsung Galaxy S4
zoom.
Operating SystemThere's
hardly to choose from in this respect since it is only expected both
the devices from the same manufacturer will run the same Google-based
Android operating system.
But for the sake of it, while the
previous Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom came bearing the Android Jelly Bean
platform, the new age Samsung Galaxy K zoom comes running the latest
Android KitKat platform.
Display and DimensionsThe
Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom sports a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch
screen, while rendering 540 x 960 pixels resolution. Also, the device's
overall dimensions measure up to 125.5 x 63.5 x 15.4 mm, and weighs in
at 208 grams, which is quite heavy.
The Samsung Galaxy K zoom, in
this regard, sports a slightly bigger 4.8-inch Super AMOLED capacitive
touch screen, while rendering 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. The device's
overall dimensions measure up to 137.5 x 70.8 x 16.6 mm, and weighs in
at exactly 200 grams, which is again quite a heavy affair.
CameraThe
Samsung Galaxy K zoom, in this instance, offers an impressive
20.7-megapixel primary camera, sporting a pixel resolution of 5248 х
3936 pixels, with autofocus and LED flash. The device also has a
secondary 2-megapixel camera on board that's more than enough for
clicking decent selfies.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom, in terms of
camera, offers a lesser 16-megapixel primary camera, sporting a pixel
resolution of 4608 х 3456 pixels, with autofocus and Xenon flash. The
device also comes with a front-facing 1.9-megapixel camera.
ProcessorsBoth the devices come sporting engines with decent performance and workable horsepower, as expected from new-gen devices.
While
the Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom is equipped with a dual core 1.5 GHz
Cortex-A9 processor, the Samsung Galaxy K zoom comes equipped with a 1.3
GHz quad-core Cortex A7 and dual core 1.7 GHz Cortex A15 processor.
Storage and RAMThe
Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom offers 1.5GB of RAM to users while offering the
device in an 8GB internal memory variant. Moreover, there's the option
to expand the device's memory up to 64GB as an external microSD slot for
additional memory is also present.
The Samsung Galaxy K zoom, on
the other hand, Offers a bit better 2GB of RAM for users while offering
the device in a similar 8GB internal memory variant. However, similar to
the S4 zoom, there's the option to expand the device's memory up to
64GB with an external microSD slot present.
BatteryWhile
the Samsung Galaxy K zoom juices up the device via a 2430 mAh battery,
the Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom powers the device via a 2330 mAh battery.
PriceThe
Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom has been currently priced at Rs 23,500 for
aspiring customers, while the Samsung Galaxy K zoom is yet to receive an
official release date.
Verdict
With a new age
comes new technologies, and the new Samsung Galaxy K zoom is easily a
part of that new age. The device, as the name suggests, focusses
entirely on the in-device camera, and for that matter, it doesn't
dissapoint.
While both the devices are camera oriented, it seems
like the new K Zoom easily has an edge over the previous S4 zoom. And
with its other big features except the camera, the K Zoom is easily
going up the charts, and also a must for all those to live by
photography.
